Deze beelden staan op ons netvlies gebrand, ze hebben zich diep genesteld hebben in het collectieve geheugen van de wielerfans. Gemeenschappelijke factor bij die beelden? Modder, slijk, regen. Omstandigheden die van een doodgewone koers een heroïsche strijd maken, die van doordeweekse renners onsterfelijke helden maken. We verzamelden dus enkele tienduizenden woorden, een paar kilo zand, goten er liters regenwater bij en gooiden het geheel in een betonmixer. Het resultaat: reconstructies van het WK cyclocross 1986 in Lembeek en de Schaal Sels in 2015, interviews met wereldkampioen gravel Florian Vermeersch en Maria Canins, op reportage in een besneeuwde Hel en tijdens een cross in Wallonië, en nog zo veel meer. 148 pagina’s slijkduivels en modderfiguren.
