OVERVIEW

Essential Oils+ is a balanced blend of fresh, pure, nutritious oils. That have been carefully combined to provide the essential fatty acids (EFA's):

  • Omega-3
  • Omega-6
  • Omega-9

In a coveted 2:1:1 ratio.

Our body cannot produce EFA's, so we must source them from food and/or oils, as they're 'essential' for the optimal functioning of our:

  • Immune system
  • Nervous system
  • Hormonal system

As well as our cells (which are the foundation of health!).

The typical Western diet is very omega-6 heavy. Which scientists believe to be 'proinflammatory' and linked to numerous health complaints (including weight management conditions like obesity).

That said, scientists also hypothesise that rebalancing EFA intake can help to:

  • Manage weight
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Improve heath outcomes

The nutritious oils that make up Essential Oils+ are:

  • Organic Flaxseed Oil
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Evening Primrose Oil
  • Sesame Seed Oil
  • Coconut Oil

Essential Oils+ has also been bolstered with fat soluble vitamins A and D, as they're better absorbed when emulsified into a high quality fat.

Mixed Tocopherols (a powerful antioxidant also known as Vitamin E) is also included in Essential Oils+. As it keeps the formulation stable and free from oxidation (going rancid), unlike many other popular EFA formulations.

Essential Oils+ also contains Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), which is another powerful antioxidant and an essential nutrient for the production of cellular energy. The importance of CoQ10 (and VITAMIN D for that matter!) can be highlighted by the fact that they are found in almost every cell in the human body.

DESCRIPTION

The EFA's in Essential Oil’s+, form an important component of the membrane that surrounds the trillions of cells in our body.

The fatty acids that this membrane is composed of, determines:

  • Stress resilience
  • Immune function
  • How the body functions
  • Its ability to resist disease

It is therefore paramount that the body gets the correct proportion of these EFAs (2:1:1) to ensure that the membranes are permeable enough to allow oxygen (and nutrients) into the cell (which translates to increased vitality and better health outcomes).

Western diets typically have an omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of 15/1 (and higher) putting people at risk of chronic health conditions and obesity driven by inflammation. Whereas a ratio of 2:1 (like in Essential Oil+) is associated with:

  • Lower lipid count
  • Improved blood vessel function
  • Reduced risk for arterial plaque build-up

Which translates to decreased inflammation, improved stress resilience and a favourable change in body composition (increased muscle mass, lowered fat mass).

ORGANIC FLAXSEED OIL

Flaxseed Oil is a rich source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Which is an omega-3 fatty acid that has implications in supporting healthy:

  • Cell function
  • Immune function
  • Energy production
  • Resilience to stress

Clinical trials have shown that Flaxseed Oil can improve symptoms of:

  • PCOS
  • Inflammation
  • Elevated lipid levels
  • Blood sugar dysregulation

EVENING PRIMROSE OIL

Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) derives its name from the Evening Primrose plant and is a rich source of the omega-6 EFA's;

  • Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA)
  • Linoleic Acid (LA)

Evening Primrose Oil plays a vital role in:

  • Managing hormones
  • Supporting skin health
  • Lowering inflammation

EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is an oil obtained from olives, that are naturally processed without any chemical treatment and kept in an unrefined form.

Unlike common Olive Oils that undergo chemical treatment, and in the process, lose their important antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capabilities, EVOO maintains its health benefits through maintenance of its:

  • Vitamins
  • Fatty acids
  • Beneficial plant compounds

Recent clinical trials have found that Olive Oil may be beneficial for the prevention and management of Type 2 Diabetes. While the beneficial compounds in EVOO have been systematically found to lower inflammation and manage stress systems.

SESAME SEED OILS

As the name suggests, Sesame Seed Oil (SSO) is derived from Sesame Seeds. And when concentrated into an oil formula, this enhances their ability to dampen down on inflammation due to their high lignan content, which alters the expression of genes that regulate inflammation within the body.

VITAMIN D

Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin that contributes to the normal maintenance of:

  • Teeth
  • Bones
  • Muscle function
  • Immune system
  • Cardiovascular system

Vitamin D's efficacy as an immune aid (against viruses) finally became 'mainstream' during the COVID pandemic, with many people also benefiting from it's positive effects on mood and warding off depression.

There are two types of Vitamin D available on the market; D2 and D3. Essential Oils+ contains D3 (Cholecalciferol) from sheep's wool, as it has been shown to be up to three times as effective as D2.

Medium chain triglycerides (MCT's) which are derived from coconut oil, have also been employed as a carrier oil to enhance the absorption of Vitamin D3.

VITAMIN A

Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate) is a natural, fat-soluble vitamin which has vital modulating properties such as:

  • Gastrointestinal function
  • Growth and development
  • Regulation of skin health and vision

Vitamin A also influences immunity by supporting the maintenance of mucous membranes (which help trap bacteria and other infectious agents) as well as supporting the production (and function) of white blood cells, which clear pathogens from our bloodstream.

When Vitamin A is combined with Vitamin D, they work synergistically to:

  • Dampen down inflammation
  • Regulate the immune system
  • Maintain healthy gut function

To ensure there are no compromises in your ability to absorb and assimilate nutrients, whilst combatting inflammatory challenges that may negatively affect wellbeing.

COENZYME Q10

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is an energy producing, fat soluble antioxidant compound in the body. That's essential for healthy:

  • Ageing
  • Inflammation
  • Energy production
  • Disease prevention

But even though CoQ10 is so important to our body, it can still be challenging to hit our daily requirement with food alone (especially as we age and our ability to produce it declines). Furthermore, certain medications (like Statins) can actually make a CoQ10 deficiency worse!..

But, by taking Essential Oils+ (with CoQ10 included) not only will you be hitting your daily requirement, but you'll also be enhancing your capacity to absorb it! As the uptake of CoQ10 is increased when taken with Essential Fatty Acids.

MIXED TOCOPHEROLS

Mixed Tocopherols are naturally occurring antioxidants, that are a form of the fat-soluble micronutrient; Vitamin E. Which have been added to Essential Oils+, to protect the lipids (oils) from oxidation (going rancid).

Lipid Oxidation not only reduces the quality of an oil, but can also be damaging to those taking the oil! As oxidised oils are damaging to our physiology via inflammation driven by oxidative stress.

Enchanting
Format: Kindle
"Queen of Roses" by Briar Boleyn is a delightful and refreshing reimagining of the classic tale of King Arthur, with a captivating twist that places the spotlight on Morgan, a character who has often been overshadowed in traditional retellings. Boleyn's creative decision to shift the narrative perspective to Morgan breathes new life into the story, offering readers an intriguing and compelling look at the Arthurian world from an entirely different angle. One of the most commendable aspects of this book is its incorporation of Fae elements, which adds an enchanting layer of magic and mystery to the already familiar Arthurian setting. Boleyn skillfully weaves the world of the Fae into the narrative, creating a captivating backdrop against which the events of the story unfold. This addition not only adds depth to the world-building but also provides ample opportunities for twists and turns that keep readers thoroughly engrossed. However, while the book boasts numerous strengths, it does have one noticeable flaw: the characterization of Morgan. While it is reasonable to create a flawed and complex protagonist, it appears that at times, Morgan's character becomes overly difficult and hard to relate to. Her persistently negative perception of one of the main male characters, who is a potential love interest, despite his efforts to support and assist her, may come across as somewhat irrational and could test the patience of some readers. Striking a balance between a strong, independent character and one who can recognize genuine support and affection could have enhanced the overall reader experience. Nonetheless, the allure of "Queen of Roses" lies in its innovative approach to the Arthurian legend and its skillful blending of fantasy elements into a familiar narrative. Boleyn's evocative prose draws readers into a world where magic, destiny, and fate entwine, leaving us eager to uncover the mysteries that unfold within the pages. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

An action-packed dark romantasy
Format: Kindle
I loved this book! Queen of Roses is an Arthurian-inspired dark romantasy that is the first book in the Blood of Fae series. The story follows Morgan, the princess of Camelot who is rumored to be part fae. Fueled by prejudiced hatred and a mistrust of fae blood, Morgan’s abusive father strips her of her birthright and hands it to her half-brother, Arthur. Instead of becoming queen, Morgan is commanded to join the temple of the goddesses when she comes of age. However, Arthur turns into a psychopathic, power-hungry, fae-hating king as he ages. He develops malevolent plans and commands Morgan to find an ancient weapon with legendary power. Although Morgan is wary of Arthur’s intentions, she embraces the opportunity to go on a journey and potentially change her fate. The story picks up from there and we follow Morgan on her quest to find the ancient relic. It’s full of high stakes adventure, mystery, tension, banter, forced proximity, hidden magic, self discovery, and betrayal. This first installment of the series intricately develops the world building and character development. There’s little romance in this book, but it is evident that it is a slow burn that will continue to develop throughout the remainder of the series. Overall, I loved the world building, the epic fantasy, Morgan’s journey of self discovery, and all of the twists and turns that set the stage for the future installments. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Arthurian Fae Quest…say less.
Format: Kindle
A fae centered Arthurian tale unlike any I’ve read so far. The author did a great job at descriptive world building, with scenes easily playing out in my minds eye. There was plenty of action, suspense, and even a touch of horror. An enemies to lovers, slow burn romance, a quest, with plot twist and turns aplenty. There was a love triangle, which I’m not usually a fan of but, it played out well in this story line. The FMC, Morgan Pendragon, was so blatantly naïve, yet I typically expect as much in a ‘book one’ of a series, especially one that features a fairly sheltered princess. I was happy to read that in spite of this, she still showed a strong sense of morals, fire, and spine. Now our MMC? Kairos Draven, aka Void’s Edge. Oh, how I’m a sucker for a smoking’ hot grumpy warrior alpha with a witty mouth, and a strong sense of “touch her and die” attitude, so you know who held all my cards. That ending? Just made me swoon all the harder. Now add a battlecat that rivals the size of a horse…and well Ms. Briar Boleyn you have well and truly stolen my heart. I’m excited to see where the story goes from here, and follow along to see more of the characters growth. I went into this story fairly blind, and I think I enjoyed it all the more because of it. Once the story got going, it had me in an absolute chokehold and it was difficult to put down.

Not a bad start
Format: Kindle
3 stars Thank you Netgalley and Briar Boleyn for the ARC! A camelot/king Arthur retelling with fae. I was hooked by the idea of this book immediately and was eager to jump into this world. • slow burn • enemies to lovers • who did this to you Morgan Pendragon watched her mother die by her father's hand when she was just eight years old, hiding under the bed. Morgan is believed to have the tainted blood of the fae in her veins and is cast aside so that her fathers illegitimate son, Arthur, can become the king. She's seen his cruel treatment of the fae firsthand, so when he sends her on a journey to find a fae weapon she seizes the opportunity to do more with her life. Along the way, she finds more than she could have imagined. I don't know a whole lot about King Arthur and Camelot but I had a lot of fun with this story! The plot has some similar tropes to popular romantasy books (From blood and ash) but there's enough originality here that it doesn't feel like I'm reading a copy. I liked how the fae were different in appearance than what is typical in most fantasy books I've read. In this book they have blue hair, violet skin and a wide range of other characteristics. I thought that the world building was easy to follow and I could easily immerse myself into this world. After reading the blurb I kept wondering when she was going to go on the journey to find Excalibur and it doesn't happen until around the 45% mark. The story is a bit slow at times but starts to pick up once they begin their journey to find Excalibur. The John Wick style Inn was a fun concept that I enjoyed reading about. There are a lot of similarities to this and FBAA and I would have liked to have it be a little more different, but I'm hoping book two will have the story turn into something of its own. Overall I enjoyed reading this story and I'm looking forward to reading book two especially after that ending.

OUTSTANDING
Format: Kindle
This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.
