This second version of our two satellite images of the Garden Route was created from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery taken in July 2022 and covers a 100km stretch of coastline from Mossel Bay in the west to Knysna in the east. The land portion of the image is approximately 40km wide and includes the semi-arid lands of the Little Karoo in the north separated by the Outeniqua Mountains from the green coastal belt. The image was composited for a continuous and consistent scene and minor visual artefacts were repaired to produce a smooth, balanced image.
Colour variations between the two Garden Route images are due to different seasonal and atmospheric conditions.
