The cover (near new condition with only minor flaws such as tiny amounts of creasing at the corners, see enlargeable pictures), magazine with rules attached (near new condition with only minor signs of being handled, glossy white pages and no marks or writing), 280 counters (unpunched, well-centered front & back, and in new condition, with some minor creasing in the border areas that does not extend to the counters) and full-color 34"x22" map (near new condition with the printer's creasing at the middle fold due to the folding process (common to S&T maps) are all in near new to new condition. A highly sought after issue in superb condition with an excellent bonus!!

Byzantium is a 2 to 4 player (the Byzantines, the Franks, the Khazars, and the Muslims) game covering the high points of the Byzantine Empire, from the 8th century defeat of the Arabs to the fall of Constantinople in 1204 AD. Each player represents a single great power or alliance. Players must use a combination of military strength and cunning strategy to maintain and increase their power. The rules are a modified version of those used in the 30 Years War (S&T #173) and the 100 Years War (S&T #177).
