With a turn of the knob, you can adjust the temperature of most heating devices! Plugin up to three identical heat sources with a combined wattage of up to 200 watts. To function properly it is important that the plugged-in heating sources are the same (ie; three 50w basking lights, three 6' runs of 3" heat tape, etc.). Turn your heaters down or back up depending on the ambient room temperature. Great for use with Ceramic Heat Emitters, Under Tank Heaters, and Basking Spot Lamps.

DO NOT connect different types of heating elements at the same time, such as 1 under tank heater and 1 heat lamp, as they require different control settings. Always start with the setting at the lowest point and increase power by turning the control knob to meet the requirements of your pet and continue to monitor temperatures with an accurate digital reptile thermometer.

A rheostat will not adjust automatically for changes in room temperatures, only a thermostat can do that. Rheostats are best used in "non-critical" applications to fine-tune the output of supplemental heaters. NOT to be used with mercury vapor bulbs or Fluorescent/Power compact bulbs.
