Pitchers, the pitches they throw, and how they throw them -- these days it's the stuff of constant scrutiny, but there's never been anything like a comprehensive source for such information. That's what preeminent baseball analyst Bill James and ESPN.com baseball columnist Rob Neyer realized over lunch more than a dozen years ago. Since then, they've been compiling the centerpiece of this book, the Pitcher Census, which lists specific information for nearly two thousand pitchers, ranging throughout the history of professional baseball. The Guide also offers:
  • A dictionary describing virtually every known pitch
  • The origins and development of baseball's most important pitches
  • Top ten lists: best fastballs, best spitballs, and everything in between
  • Biographies of some of the great pitchers who have been overlooked
  • More knuckleballers and submariners than you ever thought existed
  • An open debate concerning pitcher abuse and durability
  • A formula for predicting the Cy Young Award winner
  • Something fresh and new: Bill James' Pitcher Codes

The Neyer/James Guide to Pitchers is about understanding pitchers, and baseball's action always starts with the pitchers. It's also about entertaining debates and having a great deal of fun with the history of a game that obsesses so many.

Looks great.
Love the look. Took a bit to put it together. The only negative was putting on the back with the tack nails. There was no way to see if you were hitting the board so I missed it about 1/3 of the time. Might be better to use wood glue and forget using the nails.

Perfect for a small bathroom
Nice cabinet for the bathroom. I have a 120-year-old house with small bathrooms; this doubled the cabinet space; the white keeps the room visually larger. I'd like to add the instructions are awesome: no verbiage just step by step diagrams. Each hole drilled and ready, as well as pilot hole where the screws will be received. Each piece labeled. The instructions have in the listings the count of pieces with a notation of extra screws, so you don't think you "screwed up" when you're done. One note: as the shelves are part of the construction, they are not adjustable, in my case not a big deal.

Decent product, you get what you pay for
Easy to put together and good price, fit the space we had perfectly. Cheap material, but you shouldn't be surprised considering the price. I saw another review commenting on the difficulty lining up the nails for the back. Wish I would have read it before the assembly as the nails popped through the front side and I had to knock them back and repaint the spots. The directions don't state which size drill bit to use for the wall anchors, but 5/16" worked well. Overall, not great but not terrible either.
