Despite their colourful plumage, they are well camouflaged. They are not good flyers, but move very elegantly in the treetops. Their huge beaks serve as air conditioning. A toucan pair remains faithful to each other for life. Toucan pairs breed in natural tree cavities and raise 3 to 4 young together, the first of which leave the breeding cavity after 6 to 9 weeks.
