Fresnet-Juillet produces Champagne using traditional methods, focusing on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from its 5.7 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards in Verzy and Bisseuil. Their prestigious Special Club is crafted from 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, from two select plots in Verzy. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with malolactic fermentation to enhance texture and complexity. Only 2,500 bottles of Special Club Champagne are produced per vintage, with an allocation of just 120 bottles. The wines undergo extended aging in the estate’s historic 120-meter underground cellars, allowing for refined development and expression of the Montagne de Reims terroir.
What is Special Club?
Special Club Champagne, also known as the Club de Trésors or Club of Treasures, represents the best classification for grower Champagnes. This club was established back in 1971 as the Club de Viticulteurs Champenois with the purpose of evaluating and recognizing exceptional quality among specific Champagne growers. The small producers worked together to produce a specially made glass bottle for their best vintages. And they only choose their best vintages to be put in Special Club bottles.
